The 43rd Annual Loon Count in the Rangeley region takes place on Saturday, July 18th from 7am-7:30am. Led by the Maine Audubon and supported locally by the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, this event relies on volunteers to assess the local population.
All loon count volunteers receive a FREE brew coffee or tea that day as a thank you for your participation!
How to Participate and Count
Date & Time: Saturday, July 18, from 7:00 am to 7:30 am.
Location: Lakes and ponds throughout the Rangeley region.
How to Sign Up: Email the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust headwaters coordinator at headwaters@rlht.org to secure your lake assignment.
What You’ll Do: Observe and record adult loons, non-breeding subadults, and newly hatched chicks during the designated 30-minute window.
